- Child Safety
Child safety with blinds is a crucial part of our mission. There is nothing more important to us than making sure our customers know that when they buy from us, they can have peace of mind knowing they will be creating a safe environment for children.
At the same time, it is important to us that our customers are aware of the child safety measures when installing blinds.
TIPS on how to create a safe environment when installing blinds.
- Make sure any blind with cords have a cord safety device installed. These devices help to keep long cords neatly wrapped and out of the reach of children. They can be easily installed and are an effective way to manage excess cord length.
- For blinds with continuous loop cords, use tie-down devices. These devices secure the cord to the wall, preventing it from forming a loop that poses a strangulation risk. Ensure that these devices are installed properly and securely.
- Ensure all cords, chains and tapes are at least 1.5 metres from the ground.
- Conduct regular inspections of your blinds to ensure that safety devices are secure and functioning correctly. Replace any damaged or worn-out cord safety devices promptly.
- Consider where you put furniture such as, cribs, and other items that children can climb on. Try keep them away from windows with blinds. This reduces the risk of children reaching and playing with cords.
- Educate your children about the potential dangers of blind cords. Teach them not to play with cords, pull on them, or create loops. Create awareness about the importance of safety around window treatments.
- Never tie cords together.
- We have a range of motorised blinds that are completely cord and chain free.
CHILD SAFETY DEVICES FOR BLINDS
All our child safety devices are free of charge and easy to instal.
CHAIN BREAK CONNECTOR - The chain break connector typically consists of two separate pieces that are connected by a breakable link. When a certain amount of force is applied to the chain, the link breaks, separating the chain into two shorter lengths. This eliminates the risk of a hazardous loop forming, reducing the potential danger to children.
CORD CLEAT - A cord cleat typically consists of a small, two-piece device made of plastic or metal. The two parts of the cleat are designed to interlock, creating a secure anchor point for blind cords. A cord cleat is a safety device designed to secure the cords of window blinds, reducing the risk of entanglement or strangulation, especially for young children.
CORD AND CHAIN TIDY - The primary purpose of a cord and chain tidy is to manage and secure the cords and chains of window blinds, preventing them from hanging freely and forming hazardous loops.
TIE-DOWN CLIPS -Tie-down clips are installed on the wall near the top of the window frame, out of reach of children. The excess cords of the blinds are wrapped around the arms or wings of the clip in a figure-eight pattern or another configuration. This wrapping keeps the cords organized and prevents them from hanging loosely.
